The first worldcup of the season took place in China's megacity Chongqing. For me it was thrilling to go to China, because I saw all my fellow competitors again after a long break. Additionally the first worldcup of the season is something special, because that's when you find out how strong you are. This comp is different to the one's in Europe, because even if there is a big crowd, of about 3000 spectators, it is very quiet throughout the competition. The Chinese do not go crazy like e.g. the Americans and as a competitor you cannot feel them at all. I always like if there is a big crowd and it motivates me if I can hear them pushing me.
So in this final I did not hear the crowd, but I heard my teammates and friends cheering me on. And it helped a lot! I flashed the first problem. When I got onto the second problem, I already knew that I'd like the dyno at the start. After that the hardest part was to match the top hold. I heard Jule shout "Come on Anna" and I thought "Yes, I will". I matched the top and jumped down. Nobody of us did number three, the top just seemed a little bit too bad, or too far away. Everything came down to problem number four, which was a "slabby" start into a "roofy" finish. The very first part was getting around the corner and at the observation I thought that I hope to get round that thing. I knew that nobody had topped the problem. Well somehow I got round the corner, stood on the left foothold, mantled with the left arm and balanced my body over to the big volume. I changed feet, matched hands and brought my left foot to the foothold on the volume. I jumped, touched the bonus hold and landed on the mat.... At least I had an idea how it might work. I did the same thing again, but took more time at the big volume. I brought my right foot up too, mantled into the roof and reached for the bonus. I was so happy that I had the bonus in my hands, I knew I wouldn't let go now. I did the last move, matched the top and realized that I had won.
I was overwhelmed..... It was the first time for me to win the first worldcup of the season and it definitely gives me a lot of confidence for the upcoming events. Second place went to Momoka Oda from Japan and third place to Alex Puccio from the US. My teammate Jakob also made it to the final easily. In the end we reversed the result from last year, where he'd won and I had got second. This year Dmitrii Sharafutdinov from Russia won, Jakob placed second and Tsukuru Hori from Japan came third.
